Does your ear training session turn into a jam session when you sitting with your instrument when doing exercises from ToneGym? Mine most of the time: Route VI turns into chord progression exploration, intervalis into something else.đ Do you share the same experience?
I have a lot of fun doing it like this, otherwise it gets really boring
I barely use the instrument while doing the training, because I want to train... not using anything else but my ear. But yeah, that's really cool that you're doing that on Route VI, it sounds interesting!
Hello guys hope all is well! I have a question about numbering or more broad theory.
when people use number like 6-4-1-5, I feel like people always think in Major key. If someone want to think in minor key, they'll use roman numerical like i-V-III-VII' am I right? but this is not my main subject sorry. (correct me if I'm wrong tho but I think people who use 6415 are not so strict on theory?)
Anyways, my main question is, what's the pros and cons of think everything in major or why people think in major key always? What I mean is Only when they use Natural minor scale.
Here is the example song. I think the overall song feel is minor/mellow. But it's natural minor so E major/C#minor. Would you say it's major or minor? if so why? or it doesn't really matter or neither??
@Dima G I think Iâm gradually understanding with some self doubt.lol. So far the direction Iâm going is like âafter all it doesnât really matter if it help one or us communicate better. Itâs more up to us individually if we feel it major or minor (if itâs natural minor).
@Alex Angelich Yes I think thatâs exactly I was talking about! Nashville/Church numbering. My background is drum and studying theory now. But I feel like people vary talk in minor numbering when I had church gigs. So I thought âhuh. Maybe they just use theory(numbering) only for efficiency and they all try to simplify for best communication?â. If that makes sense..
I feel like if the key is established, you need not specify whether any of the numbers (6-4-1-5) are major or minor because the key dictates that. If we are in a minor key, the 4, 5, and 1 will all be minor and the 6 will be major. If we are in a major key, the 1,4, 5 will be major and the 6 will be minor. So I think people who use 6-4-1-5 (instead of roman numerals) ARE strict on theory--in that, if they say: we are going to play a 6-4-1-5 in A minor, they don't also need to say with chords are minor/major because they are assuming you know which chords should be minor/major. Ya know what I mean? đ
@Brian Sidebottom Oh wow! You made me noticed how much lazy I've been! I didn't even think about that but you're right! Then I just watched Tonegym Learning video about minor chords. And he explained my question I think.
So basically, if it's a minor key, it MUST have Harmonic minor note??? Then basically every mellow/sad songs which only use natural minor scale Are Major key?????
Has anybody ever had the Continue Training button appear with 0 games left to finish today's workout? Nothing but page refresh happens when I click it.
Has anybody figured out the notes of level completed sound in ToneGym? This sound: https://disk.yandex.ru/d/FtN_SF1aM09vZg I want to know how success sounds like
