Music theory examines the fundamentals of music. It provides a system, or a language, to interpret musical compositions.
Through music theory, we can better understand how music works and better appreciate it as composers and listeners.
Music is built of 3 main elements:
1. Rhythm - the energy of music and how it spans over time.
2. Melody - a musical phrase of single notes or pitches.
3. Harmony - multiple notes played simultaneously.
