@Cuantas Vacas, how come you are so much better at the inversions contest than the chords one? Seems like the employ almost the same skills. I thought this one is much much harder though?! (arguably the hardest here) What's your secret?
It's not a secret at all. It all comes down to my poor ability to use any keyboard shortcuts that involve more keys than the number of fingers I (luckily) have. Inversions and Progressions require 4 and 7 keys, respectively, and therefore my scores are up to my actual ears' ability. On Chords and Intervals (which I find easier to recognize; and faster) I can only use my mouse, with all the mistakes and slow pace that involves...The funny thing is that inversions were the only part from Music Theory I had never heard of before I came to ToneGym!
They are on the middle row of your keyboard. Press tab ingame to see the map. All contests have keyboard shortcuts, but the melody ones input double notes, you need to use a midi keyboard for those.
Yes, MIDI keyboard for the Melody contest, and shortcuts for the other ones. They are horrible and that's also a big trouble for me as they don't always make sense. And they rarely don't make no sense.
And you were right, @Colin Aiken ! That's why I can't allow those things to fly over the keyboard just to end up landing on 3 keys at the same time...but I'm about to get this situation flipped over as soon as I have one of these powerful weapons under my hands:
