Interval barks seems to have a bug. When I am asked to sing a major 2nd lower than the given note, it tells me that I am wrong because I sang a major 9th lower. It seems that it’s an octave off every time. I’m a baritone and am sure that I am in the correct octave.

Probably try sing quieter and shorter to see if it works. Otherwise, reset your vocal range again, which was what I did. 😃

I had this problem in the beginning. Eventually this solved itself when I
1) Double checked pitch adjustment settings in ToneGym
2) Double checked with a tuner that I sing the right notes (now I check with the piano instead)
3) Learned to sing louder. When I resonate well and not just hum, it's easier for the app, well
4) Stopped holding my tablet while doing the game, as I occasionally blocked the mic with my palm.

Hope something of it helps

I have a SM57 hooked up and if I sing the right note, it almost always registers. If I resonate for about 3 seconds and it does not register, I sing a one second note. This seems to help the note registerer thingamabob...
I am a Baritone/Bass. I use the Bass for the register as I can get lower notes more consistently. (that E4 can be sketchy if I am not really well warmed up...)
The Decending intervals start near C4 (for baritone this is E4) and Ascending intervals start near E4(for baritone G2). Be sure you are not singing near E3 for the decending. A high quality tuner, online or otherwise, will show not only the note but also the octave, this is something you should check. I also have an piano nearby to check myself.
