-The 1st set of beats establishes the rhythm, -The 2nd set is what you are supposed to mimic, -The 3rd set reminds you of the established rhythm (established in the 1st set), -The 4th set is where you are supposed to mimic the beat from the 2nd set.
--So, the only set you are supposed to do anything is on the 4th set :)
I actually would rather play the rhythm games on my iPad. Space bar is clunky and in higher levels just can’t tap it fast enough.
I sometimes use an Apple Pencil on the iPad… but frankly have stopped playing both rhythmic games b/c the patterns were just unrealistic and some “poly-rhythms.” Nothing I am going to use in my musical life.
@Ken Wilkens - I could see that working well on an iPad with a pencil! And I get what you mean about some of the rhythms, but I think it's still good to keep in mind that altering the placement of a beat even by an 8th or 16th note can add some funk or a different feel. I know what you mean though about likely not using those beats in real life
